License plate capture cameras are primarily used to obtain a high-quality image of the plate but does not interpret the image in an intelligent manner.
The vertical and horizontal angles should be less than 40 degrees. Camera must be mounted so that in the resulting image a horizontal line can be drawn through the image and crosses both the left and right edges of the license plate.
Consider how the height of the camera will affect the angle. Sharper angles will alter the images of the license plates. The shallower the angle, the better. Also consider the height of the camera when determining the distance calculation for the capture zone. The height of the camera and horizontal distance from the camera to the vehicle will result in a total distance that the capture camera must span.
